Family: Condition of 7-year-old improves after hit and run in Woodhaven

WEB UPDATE: The family said Joelei Werley's condition has improved in the hospital after being seriously injured in a hit and run.

On Sunday the family said that Joelei is breathing on her own and has not suffered brain damage from the incident.

The 7-year-old girl suffered serious injuries after a hit and run in Woodhaven Friday night.

Police need your help to identify the driver that hit Joelei Werley who was crossing West Road in Woodhaven at 7:50 p.m. that night.

Investigators are looking for a dark blue newer model Chevrolet Malibu or Impala, with damage to the driver's side.

The girl's brother, Casey Werley, posted on Facebook about the incident, asking for the public's help.

"Pray for Joelei this is my little sister who got hit by a car going through a red light going 45-60. The driver kept driving her blue Malibu or Impala.

"She almost died but is now in stable condition, currently in surgery, so many broken bones, blood. Please pray for Joelei #prayforjoelei."
