WESTLAND, Mich. (WJBK) - A fatal accident in Westland has closed down Wayne Road between Ford Road and Stacey Avenue.
UPDATE 10 p.m.: FOX 2 has learned the cause of the accident is the man suffered a stroke.
The driver was taken to the hospital where he had a second stroke, he survived.
We're told the driver of a medical transport van appears to have crossed the center lane, and crashed head-on into a FedEx truck. Police say one person in the minivan has died, a 56-year-old woman from Westland. Her name has not yet been given.
Two other people in the minivan were injured and have been taken to the hospital. They are expected to be okay.
Police don't believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, but aren't sure yet what may have caused the minivan driver to cross the center lane.
