FBI, local authorities disturb heroin ring in Detroit, Oakland Co.

The FBI and local law enforcement teams conducted a major heroin raid in Detroit Tuesday morning.

Authorities say a large-scale distribution of heroin was controlled by a violent, Detroit-based criminal organization and spilled over into nearby areas in Oakland County.

Twelve search warrants were executed at locations along Woodward Avenue between 6 and 8 Mile roads.

Federal agents are trying to combat the recent violence and increased sale of heroin in the area.

FOX 2's Maurielle Lue talked to neighbors who indicated some of the suspects are younger, and referred to them as "kids".
