Fill a truck with diapers for Diapers for the D

They're the city's smallest residents, but they have a big need.

As basic as diapers may seem, diaper disparity is a real issue that is continuously plaguing families experiencing poverty in Detroit. So, Development Centers is teaming up with the Detroit Police Department Friday in efforts to fill a semi-truck with diapers.

Crews are out at the Meijer at Grand River Avenue and McNichols Road collecting the diapers to put in the truck. They also have coupons available so you can get a special deal as you do your normal shopping.

"Children need diapers; diapers cost a lot. So the concept is, let's collect a bunch of diapers so families won't have that additional expense," says Coco from 105.9 Kiss-FM. "The semi is over there - it's kind of big. But guess what, Detroit? So it our heart."

Diapers will be given out to families through Development Centers.
