Harper Woods officer suffers medical issue, crashes squad car into home

A Harper Woods police officer crashed his squad car into a house on Saturday afternoon.

The officer suffered a medical condition and drove off the road near I-94 and Service Drive and Woodland.

He's in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery. No one inside the home was injured.

"The whole front of the house is obviously damaged and we're going to have a [sic] company take care of it and secure it for the homeowner and work with them, and try to make sure that they're okay and give them whatever assistance we can," said Harper Woods Police Chief James Burke. "I'm really glad that nobody was injured besides the officer."

Police have not released the officer's name.
