JC Penney's Suit Up event in Troy helps students prepare for job interviews

JC Penney is helping college student’s jumpstart their careers. The retailer offered a deep discount Sunday for its Suit Up event at Oakland Mall. 

Students from Oakland and Lawrence Tech Universities as well as Macomb and Oakland Community Colleges got a crash course on what to wear during job interviews from JC Penney staffers.

They also received a 40% discount on business clothes. 

“I just think it’s so important for first impressions, I know all the interviews I’ve done over the years it’s just important you look good,” JC Penney's general manager David Keller said. 

Faculty and alumni from those schools were also on hand to offer insight on how thing should fit, how to tie a tie and the latest trends in career fashion.

 “The more help you get with stuff like this the better cause like me having literally no experience, I’m going to walk in there like what am I doing, so any bit of help is more than welcomed so this is awesome,” student Calvin Withun said.

JC Penney also hosted its college Suit Up event at the Briarwood Mall in Ann Arbor students from U of M, Washtenaw Community college, EMU and Concordia University took part in that.
