John Dingell tweets: 'You're not done with me just yet'
(FOX 2) - Despite being in hospice, John Dingell is still as feisty as ever.
The former congressman tweeted Wednesday afternoon, saying that "You're not done with me just yet."
The 92-year-old is now reportedly in hospice. His wife Debbie Dingell has occupied his 12th district congressional seat since he retired in 2015. Debbie announced earlier today in a tweet "I am home with John and he has entered a new phase" while asking for prayers and privacy.
At about 5:40 p.m. John Dingell tweeted: "The Lovely Deborah is insisting I rest and stay off here, but after long negotiations we've worked out a deal where she'll keep up with Twitter for me as I dictate the messages. I want to thank you all for your incredibly kind words and prayers. You're not done with me just yet."
He is the longest serving member of Congress serving for nearly 60 years - John Dingell's name is synonymous with public service. The 92-year-old is now reportedly in hospice. His wife Debbie has occupied his 12th district congressional seat since he retired in 2015.
A year ago he was diagnosed with prostate cancer that has spread -- and won't seek treatment. John Dingell was hospitalized last September after suffering a heart attack but he was able to return home a short time later.
Since retiring from public office, Dingell has become known for his witty tweets on everything from sports to politics with 250,000 followers.
