Jury finds Clinton Township man guilty of murdering wife while she was on the phone with 911

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. (FOX 2) - After days of testimony, a Macomb County jury found a Clinton Township man guilty of murdering his wife.
Steven Bryce Wheeler, 31, was convicted Thursday of first-degree murder and felony firearms for shooting and killing his wife on Oct. 19, 2023.
The backstory:
According to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, Wheeler got into a fight with his wife. This led to her calling 911 and asking for police to come because she had been assaulted.
While on the phone with 911, authorities say Wheeler shot her multiple times, killing her.
"This conviction delivers justice for a tragic and senseless act of violence," said Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido. "Domestic violence doesn’t just claim one life—it leaves behind deep and enduring scars on everyone involved, especially children who are robbed of their innocence. No child should have to endure such trauma, and no community should have to bear the weight of such a loss."
What's next:
Wheeler is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 26.
