Keep an eye on Wings arena construction with realtime webcam

You can keep an eye on the construction for the new Red Wings stadium and entertainment complex with a realtime webcam.

Crews installed the cam, which points at the construction site, on top of the Fox Theatre. You can check out the view on www.districtdetroit.com. It goes live at 10 a.m. today.

"In addition to watching the progress, you can actually go back and see a timelapse of when we began in April. It's exciting now, and it's going to be even more exciting with each passing day, week and month as this project comes together," says Tom Wilson, President and CEO of Olympia Entertainment.

You can see from the birdseye view that the foundation and the elevator shaft have been laid.

"We went 40 feet deep, so this arena will be into the ground which gives you a huge lower bowl which means more great seats for fans," Wilson says. He says they've seen great response to seat sales, and says all the suites sold out in just a little over a month.

FOX 2's Roop Raj got an exclusive look at the bowl area. You can check out that video below, or on his Twitter page.
