Kids invited to Try Sports for Free Day Oct. 1

Sports can play a big role shaping young people but the cost of the gear can keep them on the sideline.

The East Side Youth Foundation tries to take money out of the equation so kids can get into the game regardless of their family's financial situation.

On Saturday the non-profit organization is hosting the Try Sports For Free event.  It is being held at the Mack Athletic Complex , 4300 Marseilles Detroit from noon to 2 p.m.

Sports featured will be jockey, football, lacrosse, soccer and more. Participants will receive a free T-shirt and pizza.
