Macomb store robbed twice in one week

Owner of North View Wine & Liquor Shoppe in Macomb, Mike Thompson, has confidence that the thieves who broke into his store will be caught.

“Word gets around,” Thompson said. “It’s a community store.”

The thieves broke into the store last week and were seen on surveillance video picking locks and tearing up the carpet looking for the main safe.

“One of the people was able to jump up and grab a bottle of Ciroc off the shelf, just as they were running out the door.” Thompson said.

Police were able to arrive within two-minutes of the robbery, but the suspects fled the scene.

Thompson said he believes that the same men robbed the store a second time just a week later.

“I’m very confident,” Thompson said. “The shoes looked way too familiar.”

The second time the store was robbed happened around 11:40 p.m.on Sunday night. Again, two men picking the locks and heading to the safe.

“This time, they were able to find some cash,” Thompson said.

During the second robbery, the suspects were only able to spend 47-seconds in the store before the alarm went off.

Thompson said he feels extremely violated due to the number of robberies that happened at his store.

“I spent nine-years in the army and never felt like this,” he said.

In total, the store has lost over $6,000 due to people breaking in.

"That’s what I use to support my family and to support the store,” Thompson said.

Thompson hopes that someone out there will recognize the suspects. One of them likely seen wearing red sweatpants and flashy shoes.

“There’s just a few bad people out there that’s making it tough on everyone else,” he said.
