Massive fire at Highland Park warehouse
HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. (WJBK) - Firefighters are working to put out a massive fire at a warehouse on Hamilton in Highland Park. They have been on scene for more than 9 hours now and fire officials tell Fox 2 this fire could burn for the next two days.
The fire chief tells Fox 2 one worker was inside the building, but that person got out unharmed.
Employees inside the building called 911 early Wednesday morning after a small fire broke out. Propane tanks, cardboard and pallets inside the building are fueling the fire.]
The city of Highland Park is currently under a Boil Water advisory as the fire continues. The Forman Mills shopping center and a nearby townhome complex are also currently evacuated due to hazmat conditions and poor air quality.
One of the businesses inside the building employs ex-convicts who are trying to re-enter the work field.
