Motor City Brass Band truck carrying $45K worth of equipment stolen

Police are looking for a culprit after a massive theft that left the Motor City Brass Band without most of their instruments.

A maremba is the last instrument standing after its companion pieces were brazenly stolen.

The band says they loaded everything up for a concert on the 11th and it sat in the Salvation Army parking lot in Southfield where the band practices until the following Saturday. They were waiting for their equipment on stage when they received a text saying it was gone.

The trailer, with the license plate D023019, was taken -- along with $45,000 worth of Yamaha timpanis, xylophones, orchestra bells and more.

But the show must go on. The Motor City Brass Band performs this Sunday at Belle Isle and Monday at Campus Martius with the Jazz Artist Joan Belgrave.

What are their plans? To borrow some equipment.

Anyone with information is asked to call police immediately.
