Motorcyclist critically injured in crash on 696 in Macomb County
WARREN, Mich. (FOX 2) - A motorcyclist was critically injured Tuesday after crashing into a truck while trying to merge onto 696 in Warren on Tuesday.
According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, all westbound lanes of 696 were closed near Groesbeck due to the crash involving a motorcycle a little before 9:30 Tuesday morning.
Warren police said the motorcyclist was trying to merge onto 696 from Groesbeck when he crashed into a truck traveling on 696.
The man is listed in extremely critical condition and was said to be in surgery late Tuesday afternoon.
He is a 21-year-old from Harper Woods. His name has not been released.
Video from the scene showed the motorcycle on the embankment of the highway and in multiple pieces.
A red Ford pickup truck was parked between the ramp and highway and police were investigating that truck as well.
The crash was cleared a little before 2 p.m. and the highway was reopened.
