Motorcyclist dead after being rear-ended by SUV on I-75 in Detroit

A motorcycle rider died early Thursday after a driver rear-ended them on I-75 in Detroit.

It happened around 2 a.m., according to Michigan State Police.

What we know:

Police said a 33-year-old man from Sterling Heights was on a three-wheeled motorcycle traveling northbound when he was rear-ended by a Chevrolet Trailblazer. 

The collision caused the motorcyclist to lose control and crash, while the SUV also lost control and rolled over.

It happened near Grand River, prompting Michigan State Police to shut down the highway. 

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead. 

The driver of the Trailblazer was identified as a 20-year-old man from Warren. He declined medical treatment.
