DETROIT (WJBK) - Police are investigating three fires that happened in the same area overnight between Thursday and Friday on Detroit's west side.
Investigators say the three fires all took place around the same time near the Grand River - Livernois area on the west side. They're calling the fires suspicious.
The first fire happened on the 9800 block of Woodside around 1:30 a.m. There was a second fire on Dundee, where a firefighter sustained a shoulder injury.
The latest fire happened on the 5200 block of West Chicago. All six people sleeping inside were able to get out of the home, including a 5 year old and a 2 year old.
"Before I knew it, it was catching all the windows, burning all the windows out. I was throwing water on it, trying to put it out," said Floyd Jones, who was home at the time of the fire.
The family lost everything they own, including some cars that were parked right near their home, escaping with the clothes on their backs.
They tell FOX 2 they have noticed recently a number of suspicious fires in the area popping up in recent days and are concerned, angry and frustrated.
