Police: Man with warrant arrested after asking for ride
Dearborn police say they arrested a 29-year-old man wanted on an outstanding warrant for his arrest after he asked police for a ride.
The incident happened September 5 according to police. The man flagged down a patrol unit in the area of Michigan Avenue near Jefferson and asked for a ride to the area of Michigan and Schafer.
After agreeing to give the man a ride, police asked the man for his name to run a background check. While the background check was happening, the man became very shy and nervous arising suspicion from the officer. The man had given police a fake name and was placed under arrest.
The completed background check showed the man had a warrant for his arrest for armed robbery and carjacking.
He was arrested and was booked on the charge.
