Police say dad left 3 kids in freezing car to watch football

Police in a city southwest of Pittsburgh say a father of three left his sons, between the ages of 9 months and 7, in the family's freezing car so he could watch a football game, then had to be subdued with a Taser when he tried to fight police.

Authorities said James Grusofski, 33, left his three sons - ages 9 months, 4 and 7 years old - inside a car so he could watch the NFL playoffs at a friend’s home in Washington, Pa., according to the Observer-Reporter. Eventually, he left his friend's house and drove home. That's when officials say he discovered his 4-year-old son was missing.

The boy was found wandering without a coat, socks or shoes in 30-degree weather by a witness who heard the boy yelling and called police.

Grusofski allegedly told police he had been drinking and then reportedly tried to fight two officers when they told him he would be charged with several crimes. He was eventually stunned with a Taser.

He's being evaluated at a nearby hospital and will be charged with endangering the welfare of children, aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.
