Hank and Chief Reyne (Grand Blanc Township Police Department)
GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. (FOX 2) - A puppy is now safe after a woman abandoned him inside a cold porta potty at a Grand Blanc Township park a few weeks ago.
The backstory:
According to Police Chief William Renye, a worker servicing a portable bathroom at Creasy Bicentennial Park found the dog inside a porta potty full of animal feces and urine. Renye said the dog, named Hank, had been there for more than two days. He had no water and very little food.
The city's parks and recreation department contacted police, who were able to track down the suspect who left Hank in the bathroom.
Reyne said the 25-year-old Grand Blanc Township woman told police that she left Hank inside the porta potty because her landlord wouldn't allow her to have a pitbull.
The woman was arrested, but police are not releasing her name since she hasn't been arraigned on charges yet.
Reyne is using this situation to remind pet owners to be responsible and keep their animals inside when it is cold.
"Remember, you chose the animal. The animal did not choose you," he said.
