Rescue group saves dog shot several times found in Detroit

A dog shot several times in Detroit is getting some help.

"Blueberry" is a pit bull mix that was believed to have been caught in the crossfire of a shooting on the city's southwest side.

She's undergoing surgery at Oakland Veterinary Referral Services in West Bloomfield. Blueberry is about eight months old and appears to be a stray.

She was taken in by Detroit Dog Rescue. Her bullet wounds are visible but her spirits are high.

"The first order of business was to get her healthy and get her wounds treated," said Kristina Rinald, Detroit Dog Rescue. "She is very loving, I came in to the operating room, the first thing she wanted to do was kiss me.

"Her ears perked up and she had three or four bullets in her."
