Roads icy during Winter Weather Advisory Wednesday morning

A cold day in metro Detroit turned into an icy night.

We are under a Winter Weather Advisory until 10 a.m. Wednesday. Roads will be slick for your morning commute thanks to an overnight freezing drizzle.

Around 7:30 a.m., Michigan State Police said they've already handled approximately 100 crashes on the freeways and around the nine different townships they patrol. Take it slow.

Several schools were also closed Wednesday morning. You can check the list here

The National Weather Service said periods of snow, sleet, freezing rain, or freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Among the areas under the advisory are Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne.
