Same suspect wanted in string of 7-Eleven robberies
(WJBK) - A suspect is wanted for three robberies of 7-Eleven stores in St. Clair Shores with a gun and demanding money.
Police also believe he is responsible for two more armed robberies in Dearborn and now Clawson.
"He is on a crime spree, crime knows no boundaries," said Capt. Issa Shahin, Dearborn police.
The most recent 7-Eleven robbery at 1:30 a.m. Friday. Clawson police say a heavyset black man, wearing a black hoodie and dark pants, casually walked into the 7-Eleven on 14 Mile near Rochester.
Inside the store, the clerk was busy cleaning coffee pots, then walked over to help the man. But quickly the robber pulling out a semi-automatic pistol and pointed it at the clerk. The robber forced the clerk to give him all of the money in the register before running off.
That very similar to the string of armed robberies in Saint Clair shores... a man -- with a similar description -- pointing a gun and demanding money at three 7-Eleven stores within the last week.
Dearborn police are familiar with the 7-Eleven serial robber as they say Tuesday at 3 a.m. a black man with a similar build, was wearing a black hoodie and dark pants when he robbed a store clerk at gunpoint at the store on Dartmouth and Monroe.
"He had a sweatshirt and it was pulled over and cinched around his face," said Capt. Shahin. "
Dearborn police say the robber was calm and quick, in and out in about 20 seconds, and got away with about $150.
"It's the same M.O. as the one in St Clair shores and based upon surveillance footage we believe they are one and the same person," Shahin said.
Thankfully no one hurt in all five of these robberies although some are worried that this man could escalate things when specifically targeting stores late at night or in the early morning hours when 7-Eleven employees are usually alone.
"Be cautious - if you see anything suspicious, please report it," Shahin said.
