Southgate pizzeria takes aim at world record with massive pizza

SOUTHGATE, Mich. (WJBK) - A Michigan pizza shop is trying to make its mark with a massive pie. 

Mallie's Sports Bar and Grill in Southgate is taking aim at a world record that would leave any pizza lover satisfied. They hope to deliver the world's largest pizza -- one that will be 6 feet long. 

That would surpass the current Guinness Book of World Records holder in California. Their pizza was 54 inches, which means they'd beat the record by almost two feet. 

The pizza was donated Wednesday to the Southgate Fire Department, via a specialized truck big enough to carry the almost 300 lb. pizza. 

On Friday, Mallie's is making two more of the pizzas for nearby elementary schools. 

If you want to order one yourself, it'll cost you $300 for a cheese pizza. Additional toppings will cost you $50. 

Mallie's also currently holds the record for the world's largest burger, which they snagged in 2017.
