(WJBK) - Macomb County authorities are searching for two suspects accused in a string of break-ins at car washes.
The same suspects could be responsible for 10 break-ins last weekend at businesses in Warren, Clinton Township, Fraser and Roseville. They hit the car washes overnight.
Warren Mayor Jim Fouts called the crimes a "smash and grab" operation. He said it's very likely the suspects are drug addicts.
"The emphasis should be on the concern that I have and that I hope that our police department will do something about -- this plague of drug abuse, particular heroin, that's throughout the Metro area and involves this type of crime -- a crime of desperation and a crime of impulse," Fouts said.
The crooks got away with cash and gift cards.
