It was last month when we told you about 12-year-old Christian Castle struck by a car riding his bike on Baldwin in Pontiac.

The driver kept going - running all the way to Peoria, Illinois. That’s where Dominique Amos was found by U.S. Marshals. A tip to Crime Stoppers led to his location.
The arrest prompted another phone call - one that the Castle family had been longing to hear.

“I was like thank you thank you. I didn’t know what else to say," said Racheal Castle, Christian's mom.

“It’s nice to know we don’t have to worry about him being on the streets anymore," said Laura Coburn, Christian's aunt.

Amos is said to be responsible for putting Christian in this condition. He was initially hospitalized with broken bones in his neck and injuries to the brain.

“He’ll never be that same 12-year-old Christian," said Racheal.

Now a month later, he still requires round the clock care.

“He was really growing up," his mother said. "He was wanting to learn how to cook. I was teaching him how to cook. and that literally all just stopped.”

This family is preparing for a new normal and need help to make it happen.

“It’s not just a come home thing, said Coburn. "It’s hospital beds, shower chairs, wheel chairs its gates. he can’t be left alone even at night when he is sleeping.”

They say knowing that the alleged hit and run driver is caught helps more than they thought it would.

“It may have been an accident when he hit Christian, but every moment after that was intentional," said his aunt.

A mom who felt uneasy knowing that up until the arrest on Feb. 14 this man was somewhere free. While she was left with constant reminders.

“My son didn’t make it a full block from the house," Racheal said. "I can look out the window and see where it happened.”

And for the anonymous person who called in the tip leading to an arrest - nothing but gratitude.

“There are people out there looking for justice for Christian. yeah. whoever it was that called thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Christian is recovering each day but it could be years until they know of the long term effects.
