Suspects claiming to be Monroe County sheriffs tie up man, ransack home during break-in

Four suspects claiming to be Monroe County sheriffs broke into a Frenchtown Township home Thursday and tied up a man while they ransacked the house.

The suspects entered the home in the 2100 block of Sandy Creek Road around 2:30 a.m. and told the man they were "Macomb County sheriff."

Authorities said the suspects assaulted the man, forced him to the floor, tied him up, and held him down while they went through the home.

The man suffered minor injuries. He was able to go to a nearby home and call 911 when the suspects fled his home.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at 734-240-7530.
