Teacher hit by minivan while working as crossing guard last week dies from injuries

A teacher who was working as a crossing guard to ensure students got to school safely has died a week after being hit by a passing car.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said on Friday that Angeles White, a Spanish teacher at Prevail Academy in Mt. Clemens, died Friday morning. White was serving as a crossing guard when she was hit by a passing minivan a week ago.

The teacher was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.

Nobody else was injured in the accident. The sheriff's office said the driver is cooperating with deputies.

Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said it doesn't appear that alcohol was a factor in the accident. It's not known if charged will be issued. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
