Teen carjacks ride share driver on Detroit's east side: police
DETROIT (WJBK) - Detroit Police say a teen suspect carjacked a ride share driver early Sunday morning on Detroit's east side.
Just after 3:00 a.m. Sunday, police say the victim, a driver for a ride share company, went to pick up a fare at Bedford Road and McKinney Street, near I-94 and Whittier Avenue.
Because the rider was under the age of 18, the driver was waiting for permission to transport, when the rider produced a silver handgun and ordered the driver out of the vehicle.
The victim complied and the suspect drove off in the victim's four-door 2006 blue Mitsubishi Galant. The license plate on the stolen vehicle is DPN 4584.
The suspect is described as a 17-year-old black male, approximately 5-foot 9-inches tall and weighing approximately 170 pounds.
It is unknown at this time for which ride share company the driver was working.
