Teen charged after leading police on chase from Garden City to Detroit in stolen vehicle

DETROIT (FOX 2) - A Detroit teen is now facing charges after a high-speed chase spanning about 20 miles early Wednesday.
It started in Garden City and ended in Detroit.
The backstory:
According to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, police tried to stop the 17-year-old near Ford and Venoy roads around 1:55 a.m. after spotting a stolen vehicle. The driver sped away and led police on a chase that allegedly reached speeds of 120 mph that ended near the intersection of Bluehill and Denver streets in Detroit, where he was arrested.
The prosecutor said that at one point during the chase, the teen tried to hit a police vehicle.
The suspect is now charged with third-degree fleeing, receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle, reckless driving, and driving without a license.
"This case although unfortunately not unusual, is nonetheless extremely troubling. This youth is alleged to have stolen a car. When a car is stolen it can have a substantial impact on the victim’s ability to go to work to make a living and take care of their family," Worthy said. "The allegation that the respondent was fleeing at a high rate of speed from officers created a grave danger to the officers and the public. Luckily, no one was injured."
What's next:
The teen is due in court Thursday afternoon for a preliminary exam.
