Thief maces security guard, robs Tiffany's store at Somerset Collection

Police are looking for a suspect who robbed the Tiffany's Store at the Somerset Collection, getting away with some high-end jewelry.

Officials said it was around 8:30 p.m. Monday when a man walked into the store in Troy. Lt. Josh Jones with the Troy Police Department said he sprayed mace at a security guard, smashed a display case with a hammer and ran.

Investigators say the suspect stole a handful of jewelry as Tiffany's works to determine the value of the stolen goods. Police said they don't have a good description of the suspect but are using video from the mall.

Last week, thieves got away with about 150 diamond rings in a smash and grab at Partridge Creek in Clinton Township.

Police say there's historically an uptick around the holidays, and to keep an eye out for anyone trying to sell a Tiffany's diamond ring for a good deal.
