U-M Director of Football Operations suspended after arrest on suspicion of DUI

UPDATE: 7 p.m.: Jim Minick has been suspended indefinitely from his duties as the University of Michigan's director of football operations, the university announced Wednesday evening.

He arrested for DUI in Pittsfield Twp. Saturday morning around 2:30. Police say he was arrested at Airport Blvd. and State Street.

Jim Harbaugh released a statement Wednesday night:

"Jim Minick made a regrettable decision last week and was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Jim makes no excuses, regrets this decision and understands the consequences for his actions. Due to the serious nature of this event, Jim Minick has been suspended indefinitely and we ask for your understanding while we address the situation."

Police said they were called to the intersection on a report of a single-car crash. According to police, Minick told them that another car went into his lane and he swerved to avoid it and crashed into a ditch. He told police the other car drove off and did not hit his 2015 GMC Yukon.
