Warren man gets life in prison for killing aunt and uncle who raised him
WARREN, Mich. (WJBK) - A man was sentenced to life in prison for killing his aunt and uncle who raised him since he was little.
Joseph Borowiak, 38, was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder for killing 67-year-old Steve Collins and 66-year-old Cynthia Collins at their Warren home in the 23800 block of Panama Avenue last September.
Noting the Collins' front door kicked in and their dog wandering around, a neighbor called 911. Police arrived to find Steven in one bedroom and Cindy in another with gunshot wounds to the head.

Police identified Borowiak as a suspect through a series of chilling Facebook postings, including an apparent family hitlist that had both Collins' names as well as their two children.
Borowiak was found with blood sprayed on his sweatshirt and glasses at a Detroit Buddy's Pizza about six hours after the murder.
He has a criminal history including drug possession convictions, as well as a juvenile record and in 2012 was charged with felony assault with intent to rob and resisting police.
The couple had raised Borowiak since he was 4 years old. The jury's verdict noted that Borowiak is mentally ill, but he's still going to prison for the rest of his life where he will get treatment.
