WATCH: Stunning Aurora Borealis from space

NASA has shared a new video from space showing the stunning view of the Aurora Borealis and Aurora Australis across Earth.

The ultra-high definition (4K) time-lapse was recorded by astronauts on the International Space Station. It was uploaded to YouTube on Sunday.

According to NASA, the Aurora Borealis and Aurora Australis phenomena occur when electrically charged electrons and protons in the Earth's magnetic field collide with neutral atoms in the upper atmosphere. The outcome is absolutely breathtaking!

Aurora Borealis, which takes place in northern latitudes, is also referred to as northern lights and Australis as southern lights.
