Shernita Johnson is still wrapping her head around the fact there's a gaping hole in her house.

"I just heard a boom," she said.

A teenager came barreling down Rossini Drive near Crusade on Detroit's east side Tuesday night crashing into her house and missing Rashaze Johnson’s car by inches.

"I thought it hit the car first," said Rashaze Johnson.

Witnesses tell FOX 2 a 17-year-old kid with only a driver’s permit was behind the wheel.

"Stop letting kids drive," said Shernita Johnson

Residents say the crash was inevitable because people speed through Rossini and Crusade on a daily basis.

"It is the third accident," said Rashaze Johnson.

"It is a blessing nobody was hit," said neighbor Ronnie Hancock.

The driver's mother was at the scene making amends for her son's transgressions, she would not talk to FOX 2 on camera but says she's paying to have the home boarded up.

Time will tell if she'll cover the cost to repair the house. Shernita did not have homeowner's insurance.
