LISTEN: Tigers trade Mike Fiers to Athletics

The Detroit Tigers announced they have traded pitcher Mike Fiers to the Athletics for two players to be named later or cash considerations.

The 33-year-old Fiers is 7-6 with a 3.48 ERA in 21 starts for the Tigers this season.  The eight year veteran is signed to a one year, 6 million dollar deal and was in his first season in Detroit.

Fiers has a 4.06 career ERA and had 87 strikeouts to only 26 walks in 119 innings for the Tigers this season.

Detroit wasn't able to work out a deal before the non-waiver trade deadline last week, but the Tigers have now sent him to an Oakland team that, if the season ended now, would be the American League's second wild card.

Fiers was with the World Series champion Astros last year, but he was not included on any of Houston's postseason rosters.
