ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WJBK/AP) - Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson announced Monday that he will transfer to Michigan.
Patterson, 20, a former five-star recruit and the top quarterback in the 2016 class, played in seven games for the Rebels this season before tearing a posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. At the time of the injury, Patterson led the SEC with 2,259 yards passing. He had 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions in the seven games. The sophomore ended his Rebels career with 23 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 10 games including three of those as a true freshman.
Ole Miss is currently under a bowl ban due to NCAA infractions and has given players permission to transfer. Patterson will have to petition the NCAA to not sit out a season due to transfer rules. Brandon Peters & Dylan McCaffrey are who Patterson will be competing with next season at quarterback if allowed to play immediately.
Ole Miss teammates Van Jefferson & Deontay Anderson joined Patterson this past weekend for a visit at Michigan including watching the Wolverines overtime win over UCLA in basketball.
