Flash Flood Warning canceled for northern metro area

Flash Flood Warnings that had been issued for some counties in the metro area have been canceled as of 8 a.m. Thursday.

The warnings had been issued for Lapeer, Macomb and St. Clair counties, and were to expire at 9:45 a.m. Thunderstorms are in the area, producing heavy rain. Up to three inches of rain has already fallen.

Still, if you are driving and come across a flooded area, turn around. Don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

You can hear more about today's rains in the video weather forecast above.

The rain is expected to dry out later on in the morning. The afternoon should be largely dry, but some storms could develop.

The air will stay humid for the rest of the day, but some relief is on the way. Tonight, Friday and Saturday will have much more comfortable levels of humidity, and the rain is also expected to clear away.
