Heavy rains rolling in Monday evening, overnight flooding likely

Our gorgeous, comfortable stretch of weather is coming to an end this week.

We'll get into the mid 80s throughout the day Monday, and it will be feeling very humid. That's because we've got some rain rolling in.

Five years ago on Aug. 11, we got that historic flooding all across metro Detroit. Metro Airport recorded 4.57" of rain - with other areas seeing over 6".

Not that much rain is expected this evening, but heavy rain is certainly coming and flooding is very likely. Scattered storms and showers are possible throughout Monday afternoon, and very heavy downpours are expected in the overnight hours and into the Tuesday morning rush hour as well.

As far as rain totals, in general the further south you are the more rain you'll see. High totals are expected in isolated locations and localized spots.

One to 2" of rain is likely in some areas, with up to 3" inches on some spots like over in Ann Arbor.

There's also a marginal risk for severe storms from about Pontiac over to Brighton and Lansing, and south. Strong winds will be the main threat there.
