Storms with high winds gusts, hail rake SE Michigan

Severe weather passed through multiple counties in southeast Michigan Thursday afternoon.

A warning is active right now in Monroe County until 3:30 p.m. Earlier warnings were active this afternoon in Washtenaw and Wayne counties.

Winds gusted as high as 60 mph, knocking down trees and power lines across the area. Several cities have also reported hail.

DTE spokeswoman Roneisha Mullen says the utility had 34,000 customers without power early Thursday afternoon.

The DTE Energy outage map indicates thousands are without power in Washtenaw County, mostly around the Ann Arbor area. Other outages are scattered into Wayne County near the airport.
