Time to grab the shovels back out?

It's the question I keep hearing: "Is it gonna snow? Cause I hear it's gonna snow".  Well, the answer is, yes, it's going to snow… but not for us.

Wednesday and Thursday are going to be wet days around here. Wednesday is setting up to be one of those cloudy, cool and raining-all-day type days. The rain will mostly be light, but I'll tell you this much: it won't be a pretty day. Thursday will be similar, but the winds will get stronger, the rain showers will get heavier, and some cold air will swing in late. But as for the snow… that will stay way up north.

Isolated showers will start early on Wednesday but the more consistent rain moves in during the afternoon.  It then sticks around all evening and night.  While we will be seeing rain, areas along I-69 (Flint, Lapeer, Port Huron) will see a wintry mix of snow, rain and ice.  Once you get to Saginaw and all areas north… that's where the heavy snow comes in.  And some of those areas are looking at substantial totals of 6-8" (in fact a Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Northern Michigan).

Once the system starts leaving Thursday night, I wouldn't be surprised to see some rain turn over to snowflakes, but we won't get any accumulation.

So, the bottom line is this: plan on rain, not snow for Wednesday and Thursday.
