How yoga can help you cope with stress by learning to just breathe

During these stressful times we often look outside ourselves for help.

Whether its dealing with depression, anxiety or maybe even thoughts of suicide, there are ways to cope.

Joining FOX 2 is Kacee Must, the owner of Citizen Yoga, who found her way through her own tragedy to look inside and teach others.

Kacee said throughout her sister's whole life, she struggled with mental health issues, suffering from bipolar disorder. As a family, they used yoga to handle life's ups and downs. On Nov. 14, 2007, her sister died by suicide. 

"It's sort of like you don't really know what your coping skills are in that moment and it took me a while to come to terms with it," she said.

That's how Citizen Yoga was born. It's about dealing with the moment and learning how to breath.

"The moment you start to change your breath, it starts to have an effect on the nervous system, which actually changes your brain chemistry," she said.

Kacee said practicing yoga in a group of people moves you from fright or flight to a higher functioning part of the brain.
