Spring Grilling with Stonewood Smokehouse

It finally feels like spring is here, and many across Metro Detroit might feel like taking that cover off the grill for some barbeque.

Gary Wakeford, of the Stonewood Smokehouse Bar and B.B.Q. in Roseville, brought his portable grill and smoker to the Fox 2 Studios Sunday morning and shared some of his signature barbeque recipes.

Like most grilling experts, Wakeford puts a heavy emphasis on having the right sauce. Here’s his recipe for barbeque rub and sauce.

BBQ Rub

  • 3 teaspoons salt
  • 3 teaspoons pepper
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup Cajun pepper
  • ¼ cup paprika
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
