1 injured, 1 dead following a pair of shootings in Dearborn Heights
DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (FOX 2) - Police responded to a pair of shootings in Dearborn Heights early Thursday.
While investigating the shooting of a 16-year-old boy around 1:40 a.m. Thursday morning, police learned of another shooting at a nearby hospital - a 17-year-old from Inkster, who died shortly after.
"It's sad and who knows what it was over," said Bill Ball, a neighbor. "They could have had, like the office said, it could have been a beef that somebody had with somebody or a drug deal went bad. Who knows?"
Police executed multiple search warrants, interviewed multiple witnesses and now have a person of interest in custody. During the investigation, officers located several bullet casings.
"I heard, I think it was five shots, but then I'm used to hearing shots aroud here, so I didn't even look until I saw the police," said Julie Wilson, a witness.
While police have a suspect in custody, they're asking anyone with any information to contact them.
