1 killed, 2 wounded in triple shooting on Detroit's northwest side

Detroit police are at the scene of a fatal shooting at a park on the northwest side Wednesday night.

One teen was killed and two others wounded from a shooting at Verne Avenue and Forrer Street, located south of McNichols and east of the Southfield Freeway according to DPD.

The fatally wounded victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two teens have been hospitalized. One teen is in critical condition and the other is listed as temporary serious condition. 

The incident happened when two groups of teens had an argument and members of each group pulled guns and started firing at each other, police tell FOX 2's Ron Savage.

At least 30 shell casings were recovered at the scene by police at a crowded park.

"There was approximately 50 people in the park," said Detroit police assistant Chief James White. "I'm happy none of these little kids got hurt. It is a blessing nobody else got hurt."

Police are looking for a gray or dark colored Jeep Patriot or Cherokee that is believed to be connected to the incident. 

The incident scene is located south of McNichols and east of the Southfield Freeway. 

It is the second shooting involving teens in two nights after an incident Tuesday night on the southwest side.

Three teens were shot just after 10 p.m. while sitting in a tan Hyndai in the 9100 block of Lane Street. 

Ray Rivera blames irresponsible teens for shooting his 19-year-old brother Antonio in the arm. He was in the car with two girls when someone opened fire on the parked car. 

Also wounded was 16-year-old Jessica Lambert and 18-year-old Alexis King. Detroit police have arrested two young males ages 18 and 17.

"Yes it's crazy man," Rivera said. "That's Detroit for you, man."
