1,000 new apartments to be built along QLine

The effort to bring people back to Detroit is about to get a big boost.

On Monday, investor Peter Cummings will announce that his company The Platform will invest $250 million to create 1,000 new apartments.

They'll be located in TechTown, Midtown, and the New Center area, right along the Q-line.

There will also be space for businesses to move in.

Cummings is the son-in-law of the late billionaire Max M. Fisher.

The 3.3 mile QLine is expected to be completed sometime next year.
