2 arrested in shooting incident outside Huron Twp business

(WJBK) - A Wyandotte man has been charged for firing a gun from the second floor of a Huron Township business.

Police say Jeffrey Dale Hamilton, 44, fired a rifle into a parking lot at Quality Pipe on Huron River Drive and Pennsylvania on Wednesday. Hamilton, an employee of Quality Pipe, was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and obstruction of justice 

There were no injuries in the shooting and police say that based on the investigation, there was no intent to harm or kill anyone at the business.

A second man, the owner of Quality Pipe, was also arrested and charged with obstruction of justice. Roger Michael Melton, 67, of Bloomfield Village, was charged in connection but it is unclear what he is accused of doing. Both suspects posted bond and were released from custody.

The person of interest Huron police had in custody Wednesday night was released.

"There was a shooter that was shooting outside the window, shooting out into the parking lot," said Everett Robbins, director of public safety, Huron Township.

Roughly 60 employees were inside Quality Pipe at the time of the incident which happened at 2 p.m.

"They pulled us out of the building and said there was a shooting and the next thing I know, I'm here," said Jeff Coleman, Quality Pipe employee.

"There is no reason to believe that anyone inside was a target," Robbins said. "There was nobody inside who was shot. He had the opportunity to shoot several people if the shooter had that intention and that didn't happen."
  
Police said that after the threat was over they went inside the building and found multiple weapons inside.
