3 kids, 1 women dead in Kent County; police not ruling out murder-suicide

Monday afternoon brought a chilling find in a rural community in west Michigan.

Three children all elementary aged and a woman were found fatally shot. Investigators are working to get to the bottom of what happened and if someone they've yet to identify was also involved.

"We do have four deceased on the scene. we don't believe there is anybody outstanding that we're looking for at this point," said Kent County Sheriff Michelle Lajoye-Young.

Young says they have not ruled out the possibility this was a murder suicide. The Kent County Sheriff's Office was called out to a home in Solon Township just after 3 p.m.

Right now investigators are not saying if the four are related.

"It's definitely a bad scene anytime we have people who are taken from us. It's very sad for our community," Young said.

Investigators now believe there's a second crime scene and that some of the victims may have been killed there-this after executing a search warrant late Monday evening.

"We also have to work forensically through the scene to collect all of the evidence and get all of the information possible so we can know what happened here," Young said.

The sheriff's office is urging those who may have surveillance video of the road leading to the home where the bodies were found to come forward-in hopes the footage will help them get to the bottom of the case.
