Detroit peace group holds "Man up, guns down" rally
DETROIT (WJBK) - "Man up, guns down" was the message during a rally in Detroit on Saturday.
The Live in Peace movement gathered at the corner of 7 Mile Road and St. Marys Street to send their message.
They believe too many kids, like 2-year-old Makanzee Oldham shot and killed Wednesday, are resting in peace too soon.
The group wants the gun violence to end.
"Parents are afraid to go to the store, they're afraid to drive their car at night and as men, we've got to stand up and women have to stand up," said Pastor Maurice L. Hardwick. "These are our streets. We should be able to come out and enjoy life like everybody else."
The Live in Peace movement was founded in 2011 and promotes victory over violence.
