Donald Trump's to speak in Birch Run
More than a year before we even get to the election debates between the Republican and Democratic nominees for President, the front-runner for the GOP is making headlines and he'll be in Michigan for a campaign stop.
Controversial. Billionaire. Politician? Donald Trump is not your typical politician. Actually, he's technically not a politician but he's making the moves to get the support from Republican voters.
Trump will speak on Tuesday night at a Republican fundraising dinner in Birch Run. The billionaire leads recent polls over 16 candidates despite another firestorm over controversial comments, this time about women.
He lashed out against moderator Megyn Kelly for her questions and said "there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever."
Tuesday morning, ahead of his campaign stop, he made a phone media tour from New York and appeared to make amends with Fox News after his comments against Megyn Kelly.
Trump and Fox News, one of the most powerful voices in Republican and conservative circles, had been in a bitter feud since last week's presidential debate. The former reality television star had drawn heated criticism from many in his own party for saying Kelly had "blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever" during the debate.
The feud seemed to thaw Monday after the network's chairman, Roger Ailes, reached out to Trump directly and assured him that he'd be "treated fairly" by the network, Trump tweeted Monday.
As for his stop in Birch Run, Trump called the expected crowd "tremendous"
"I love Michigan. We're doing very well up there. we're doing well everywhere," Trump said.
Trump is leading the crowded field but has not yet ruled out a 3rd party run. Then he tweeted this Tuesday:
FOX 2 will stream the speech on fox2detroit.com starting at 7:00 p.m.
