Driver shot in head before crashing outside Detroit motel
DETROIT (FOX 2) - A gunman is on the run after a driver is shot in the head.
Good Samaritans jumped into action after the victim crashed between a power pole and a motel on Eight Mile.
The incident happened right outside of Next Level Tax Service where the employees had no idea what they were hearing, guessing it was construction.
Instead it was seven gunshots fired, one of them striking a man's head. The man is in stable condition.
Police say someone in a red sedan shot at the Jeep on Eight Mile near Tanney at the Warren-Detroit border late Wednesday morning.
The driver lost control and slammed into a poll outside the Suarez Motel.
"I saw snow fly up, that is what made me think otherwise," said Asia Lynch of the tax service. "We were like was that gunshots?"
The bullets riddled the man's Jeep SUV, causing the crash.
"We ran outside and there was a guy inside the car almost dead," said Lynch. "It was gruesome. His whole head was covered in blood. It was crazy"
The victim was driving alone and when he crashed, he luckily didn't hit anyone.
"That's all he kept saying, 'I want to get out of the car,'" Lynch said. "The car was smoking, it was leaking."
